The Last Word
I don’t need your money,
but I could use a bit of your time
On paper it’s funny that your situation begs a higher price than mine

I am a willing confessor
Willing were it not for this fine
You got the right to question
And I am simply exercising mine

I’ll say the truth of what happened
If you would let me speak my mind
Your money does the talking
And you let me do the time

My argument is weak, but my spirit is willing
My heart is high, but my hopes are low
Hard to reason with someone who’s off to make a killing
I’m not the only broke soul to know

I am the after thought
That you think after you speak
I am the brilliant heart’s condition
And you love conditionally

None thought that I would do it
But man are you kidding me
Who am I to let a little thing
Like forever get the better of me

My argument is weak, but my spirit is willing
My heart is high, but my hopes are low
Hard to reason with someone who’s off to make a killing
I’m not the only broke soul to know

Look first, take stock of what you’re winning
If you’re having second thoughts, don’t let them show
Things like these are better left to the living
Or did you already put them on your payroll?
